Presto

Predicting consumers’ needs and then fulfilling those needs through consistent product innovation and quality manufacturing has been the objective of National Presto Industries for over 100 years, and it will continue to be in the years ahead.

Founded in 1905 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Presto first began designing and manufacturing pressure canners for commercial canneries. Originally their design had a fifty-gallon capacity. They next began to manufacture thirty-gallon canners for hotel use and soon developed the ten-gallon model for use in homes.

They began to grow rapidly in 1917 when the U.S. Department of Agriculture determined that pressure canning was the only safe method for canning low acid foods without the risk of food poisoning.

In 1956 Presto introduced a ground-breaking new concept in electric cooking. This design included the unique Control Master® heat control allowing appliances to be washed safely. It has since become the industry standard for skillets, griddles, and other small appliances.  Over the last 70 years, Presto has continued to introduce many new products, including coffee makers, popcorn poppers, heaters, humidifiers, and many more.
